New Zealand Post celebrated the Chinese Year of the Rooster with an issue dedicated to farmyard animals. Unfortunately the artist took a few liberties and the 45 cent stamp actually features a ram rather than a ewe with two lambs - a not so common site in the New Zealand rural landscape.

The 45 cent stamp was also issued as a booklet of self-adhesive stamps.

A miniature sheet commemorating the Year of the Rooster was issued in the same style as the Chinese year miniature sheets from other years.
